For around ten years, Oxford College Library has held a much-anticipated Game Night each semester to give students time to relax, unwind, and discover our games collection. In addition to being the biggest event our library holds each semester, it allows us to showcase our collection of over 1000 games available for students, faculty, and staff to check out. Game Night shows patrons that the library is not just a place to study, it is also a place to connect with friends, relax, and have fun! Typically, Game Night includes our many games for people to play along with food, drinks, music, and activities such as Dungeons and Dragons or games hosted by student organizations.
Originally, Game Night began as an after-hours murder mystery event with a Harry Potter theme. Students and library staff dressed up and had a great time solving the murder while having fun and enjoying snacks. Over the years, it has morphed into Game Night so that people who enjoy a wide variety of games can feel comfortable participating. Several student groups joined as well to host their own gaming activities. Oxford College Library’s game collection grew out of student interest in games and gaming. It is patrons like you who are responsible for growing the game collection and making Game Night our most anticipated events of the year.
This semester, we will be having games, pizza from Mellow Mushroom, drinks, activities led by student organizations, and two Dungeons and Dragons one-shot adventures. Game Night will last from 7pm to 11pm this Friday, February 21st in the Oxford College Library. To get involved with the Dungeons and Dragon adventures, you must sign up in advance with this form. We hope to see you there!
