Thomas Merton (1915-1968), a Trappist monk and influential Catholic writer, was born 100 years ago, on January 31, 1915. Pitts Theology Library is marking the occasion by opening an exhibit celebrating the life and literary achievement of Merton. The exhibit, entitled “Journeys of Thomas Merton,” will both tell the story of Merton’s life and demonstrate the breadth and depth of his many interests. Curated by Dr. Denise Hanusek, “Journeys of Thomas Merton” will run from March 9 – May 15, 2015 and will be open to the public during regular library hours. Tours will be offered bi-weekly on Friday afternoons as well. To register for a tour, please click here.
On Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, all are invited to an Evening with Friends program on Thomas Merton, with a lecture by Dr. Phillip M. Thompson. Please register here.
