UNC Fellowship – Early Bird Applications Open for MedServe’s 11th Cohort!

We are currently recruiting our 11th class of Fellows, and we would appreciate your help in sharing our program with your students. MedServe places future physicians in “rock star” primary care clinics across rural and other medically underserved communities in North Carolina. As Fellows, students work in both a clinical role (e.g., as a medical assistant) and a community role (e.g., as a health coach). We currently have 71 Fellows serving across the state. Please find more details on our website: www.med-serve.org.

Our Early Bird application opens October 1st!

Tulane Health Policy Case Competition

Tulane Health Policy Case Competition

The Tulane Health Policy Case Competition allows teams of undergraduate students to apply their talents and knowledge to put together a solution to a given health policy program. Students will have an opportunity to interact with school faculty in the course of constructing their solutions. Top teams will present their solutions to a panel of experts for detailed feedback.

Teams of up to three undergraduate students create policy-based solutions to a given problem. A workshop will be provided shortly after the case is released. Teams will construct PowerPoint presentations on solutions to the problem. Finalists will present to a panel of judges for real-time feedback.

2025 Case Prompt

This case challenges teams of undergraduate students to assume the role of state policymakers, re-envisioning how rural healthcare is provided in Louisiana. The impetus for this is the challenges presented by changes to Medicaid eligibility rules, as well as the opportunity presented by the Rural Health Transformation Program in the July 2025 reconciliation bill. It is anticipated that this measure will provide Louisiana with $220 million per year in each of the next five years. Students should detail their plan for spending 1/3rd of this money in one of three investment tracks: infrastructure modernization, workforce expansion, or care delivery innovation. A good policy will leverage existing state infrastructure as appropriate and include detailed breakdowns of the costs of the policy package.

Award

Each member of the winning team will receive $1,000 in cash (and a $10,000 scholarship to the MPH in Health Policy at Tulane, if they attend!)
