Hello everyone!
I am Danny and I am a junior from Waukegan, Illinois majoring in Human Health! Just some interesting things about me: I really enjoy listening to music so if you have any recommendations, I will love that. I love comedy which is why I also do stand-up comedy on the side for fun so I have been doing gigs around ATL which I love doing!
I wish I could say that reading and writing is my best skill and is something that I really really REALLY enjoy. Unfortunately, it is the complete opposite. When I was growing up, I always wanted to try to get into reading so I can enjoy it like most people do. However, I was never really good at it considering that my first language was Spanish and it is all I spoke till I was about 8 or 9. After learning English by attending bilingual schools, I tried to get into reading like the many kids were doing. However, I just never was into reading. The reason for this was because while other kids were getting really good at reading and writing, I was trying my best to catch up to the level of everyone else, eventually getting tired of improving due to the self-discouragement. Therefore, I never really ready anything unless it was for a class. Once high school and college came around, I was also having the same problem where I can see that my level of reading and writing was nowhere near my peers. Therefore, some of my anxieties and quite possibly my insecurities are reading and writing. The main problem I have is when I read, I forget everything I read about therefore causing frustration – I just never seem to understand advanced passages that I read. Another problem that correlates with both reading and writing is my vocabulary – when I write, I feel that my writing does not include advanced vocabulary making my writing look below average for my level of schooling. Therefore, I hope this class will be able to help me improve on how to read thoroughly without forgetting the plot and really understanding it as well as my writing and being able to correctly structure and include advanced skills into it.
