Journal 14 – Jingxuan Zhang

Queer reading is a way of interpreting texts that goes beyond traditional, heteronormative assumptions and perspectives. It involves looking at texts from a queer perspective, which means examining how the text relates to and represents LGBTQ+ experiences, identities, and issues. This can involve analyzing the representation of queer characters and themes, as well as the ways in which the text engages with issues of sexuality, gender, and identity. Queer reading is an approach to textual analysis that is rooted in the idea that sexuality and gender are fluid and constructed, rather than fixed and natural. It recognizes that mainstream society often marginalizes and excludes LGBTQ+ people and their experiences, and seeks to bring these voices and perspectives to the forefront. It is a way of affirming and celebrating LGBTQ+ identities and experiences.
