Reading Journal 14 – Olivia Ralston

I honestly had no understanding of queer reading going into the semester. Therefore, my understanding of queer reading has developed immensely during the semester, as I now have a definition. To me, queer reading is the ability to understand and critique the non-heteronormative parts of texts and other forms of media in a way that does not undermine the original work. This class has really helped me to develop analytical skills as well as to see the world and what I read in a new light. It also has allowed me to better connect with people in my life as my understanding of what queer means has developed.
