Reading Journal 14

Coming into this class I viewed queer reading as a noun: understanding historical context, reading queer novels, and analyzing how queer people and culture was viewed in all forms of media is how I interacted with a queer reading. While I believe that these are all still true understandings of queer reading, this course helped my expansion and understanding of what is considered to be queer. This helped me be more aware of emotions, thematic concepts, and symbolism that correspond with queerness and the expansiveness of queer reading. Now I also see queer reading as a verb. Reading with the lens of sex, gender, and societal constructs in mind and understanding how they transfer to real life. I’ve also been able to view reading past just actually looking at words, but as an analyzation too.
