Emory's New Associate VP for Research Administration

The Office of Research Administration is pleased to announce the arrival of Kathleen Bienkowski to Emory as our new Associate Vice President for Research Administration Services, who will oversee the operation of Emory’s Research Administration Service Centers.  Kathleen graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Psychology and studied Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology.  She has twenty-four years of extensive background in global professional services, and experience specifically in developing and managing multiple shared service centers.

Kathleen will oversee the service centers, which will provide pre- and post-award research administration support to Emory investigators, including the hiring, training, and overall management of the service center leadership and staff.  Emory launched the “pilot” service centers in the School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health in April.

Kathleen’s skills will be critical as Emory prepares to expand its research administration service centers across the University. With Kathleen’s help, and as we gain experience from current and future pilots, we will continue to make process adjustments that will provide more timely and efficient services.  Kathleen will be a welcome addition to the Emory leadership team.
