Shalmali Dharmadhikari, Ph.D.
Shalmali is originally from Pune, India, and has lived in the United States for over a decade. She came to the US to pursue her Masters in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, Iowa City where she did research in improving the accuracy of an algorithm that matched airway trees extracted from lung CT scans. After completing her MS, she moved to Indiana where she temporarily worked as a Research Technician supporting high field MR research. In 2009, she started her Ph.D. in Medical Physics at Purdue University and graduated in 2015 with an extensive research experience on 9-T MR and clinical MR Spectroscopy of the neurotransmitter GABA. In July 2015, she started training at Emory as a resident in the Medical Imaging Physics residency program. Shalmali completed her residency in June 2017 and is very excited to be working as a CT Medical Physicist with her favorite people at Emory! Shalmali is in the process of ABR certification.
Shalmali lives in Atlanta with her husband Tanmay and an energetic 5-year-old daughter Avni! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends doing outdoor activities, gardening and cooking!
