EHSO has provided guidance for disinfection during the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic. Particular attention should be given to ‘high touch’ surfaces. Also refer to guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
DISINFECTION GUIDANCE FOR LABORATORIES AND WORKSPACES
Please keep in mind and observe the basics of infection control:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Practice social distancing by maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. This includes tables doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
- Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
As the University continues to take action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential that we continue to adhere to important laboratory safety rules. Please do not deviate from established policy! These are for your protection and the protection of your colleagues.
As the University continues to ramp down laboratory work, please contact EHSO if you have questions or need assistance.
