Introducing the Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) Occupational Health Program

The Mission of the Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHSO) is to engage the Emory community in managing environmental, health, and safety risks, reducing workplace injuries and illnesses, and decreasing environmental impact. Multiple EHSO units including Research Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Radiation Safety, and Environmental Programs contribute to this mission by providing expertise and value-added services and solutions in partnership with virtually every facet of the institution. Each unit has unique professional concentrations with an overarching focus on serving the Emory community.

EHSO has partnered with Emory Occupational Health Services to develop a more robust University focused Occupational Health program. This new unit will provide health surveillance, immunizations, respiratory health, annual health assessments for Research needs and Campus Services. Please visit the Occupational Health Services site for more detailed information regarding services provided.

We are excited to welcome, Alexus Parker, BSN, RN to EHSO.  Ms. Parker, an experienced Occupational Health nurse, will be stationed at 1599 Clifton Road on the 5th Floor with EHSO to facilitate better accessibility for university faculty and staff and to fortify partnerships with our community.

It is also notable to announce that Dr. Javier Valle is serving in the role of the Interim Medical Director for Occupational Health due to the retirement of the former Director, Dr. Scott Henderson.  This essential partnership enhances workplace safety as Emory continually increases the scope of our research.
