Holiday Greetings from the Office of Research Administration

Dear Colleagues,

As the holiday season approaches, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your dedication and partnership in advancing research excellence at Emory University. Your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to our mission continue to inspire and drive impacts in our communities; while also enhancing research administrative processes across our campuses.

I’m pleased to share some of the progress we’ve made together this year in research administration. We are making significant progress in updating the grants management system, with the implementation of Insight, a comprehensive new platform for research administration and grants management. The target completion date for phase I is June 2025, where faculty and administrators can expect a robust grants/contracts management system, updated IRB application process, and a unified conflict of interest disclosure platform. Additionally, our Research Grants and Contracts (RGC) office is working diligently to improve the post-award transparency and compliance with many partners across the university. Faculty should have much more visibility into the expenses that are being attributed to research projects for which they lead. These initiatives represent critical steps toward ensuring an effective, efficient, and transparent infrastructure to support our research enterprise.

Looking ahead, the release of a new strategic action plan and annual report in the coming weeks will provide further insights into our vision and goals. Our three priorities for 2025 include:

•  Enhancing our comprehensive grants management system infrastructure.

• Strengthening our post-award processes and reporting.

• Maintaining support and compliance with research regulations.

As we continue this important work, I am profoundly grateful for your collaboration and commitment. Together, we are rebuilding a foundation for Emory that supports transformative research and innovation.

Wishing you a safe, joyous, and restful holiday season.

Warm regards,

Robert Nobles, DrPH, MPH
