Theatre is seen as a catalyst for change in existing societal order. Until independence theatre in latin america was influenced by spanish theatre. A common theme brought up my many countries in latin america was theatre’s use as a way to bring to light the harsh realities and daily lives of inhabitants. In many latin american countries censorship halted the production of theatre regarding social political life but regardless theatre expanded and became integral to the countries
