We are students in an upper level course at Candler School of Theology called “Be(com)ing Christian: Theology, Education, and Public Life.” In this course, we have considered how Christian religious and theological education cultivates in learners a calling, the capacities, and the conviction to respond to the most pressing questions in public life. In 2020, we are confronted with the profound truth that human beings desperately need to be nurtured within their religious communities, and the world desperately needs communities of faith and conscience to be advocates for justice and liberation.
