The Robert W. Woodruff Library is pleased to announce expanded digital coverage of the Atlanta Constitution Historical. Nearly 40 years of reporting have been added to the Proquest Historical Newspapers database, which now extends through 1984. This is the first time that Civil Rights-era back files of the flagship newspaper have been made available to researchers in fully searchable, digital form.

These additions nearly complete the Woodruff Library’s digital run of the Constitution and its successor, The Atlanta Journal Constitution. They are available in the following databases:

  • Atlanta Constitution Historical/ Proquest Historical Newspapers: Full-page, downloadable, black and white images from the Constitution. 1868-1984.
  • Proquest Newspapers: Unlike Proquest Historical Newspapers, indexed articles are reproduced in HTML format. 1990-present.
  • Factiva: Indexed articles reproduced in HTML format from the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC). 1986-present.
  • Newsbank/Access World News: Indexed articles reproduced in HTML format; photos, graphics, some articles are excluded. 1985- present.
  • LexisNexis: Indexed articles reproduced in HTML format. 1991-present.
  • PressDisplay: Full-color, digitized print edition of the AJC. Today’s paper and 60-days of back files.
