Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon – Feb 26, 12-4PM

We are pleased to announce that Emory University will be a host site for the “2016 Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon.” Art + Feminism is a campaign to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia and to encourage female editorship. At our Emory event, we will focus on developing Wikipedia pages for local women artists.

Date: Friday, February 26, 2016, 12-4 p.m.

Location: Computer Classrooms 312 & 314, Main Robert W. Woodruff Library, 540 Asbury Circle, Atlanta, GA 30322

This is the third year of the Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon, and this year Emory, Emory Oxford, Georgia State, and the Savannah School of Art and Design will all be hosting events across the spring.  In addition, dozens of institutions across with world will be taking part as well.

At the edit-a-thon, we will provide tutorials for beginner Wikipedians, as well as reference materials, computers, and refreshments. We’ll also have a list of Wikipedia articles to be composed or improved that focus on women artists in Atlanta and significant to Emory. Finally, we will have art history, women’s studies, and Wikipedia experts to help support your editing.

Feel free to bring your laptop, power cord, and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. We will also have computers available onsite. We invite people of all gender identities and expressions to participate.

For more information and to sign up, see our Wikpedia Meetup Page.

We hope to see you there!
