Celebrate Women’s History Month by watching a movie about an extraordinary woman! Emory’s Music & Media Library, located in the Main Robert W. Woodruff Library building, has an excellent collection of biographical films that Emory students, faculty, and staff may check out – both in DVD and streaming formats. Some films in our collection that depict the lives of inspiring women are: RBG, Chisholm ’72: Unbought and Unbossed, and LaDonna Harris: Indian 101. RBG portrays the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, chronicling the struggles and successes that led to her appointment and accomplishments as Supreme Court Justice. Chisholm ’72 tells the story of another truly outstanding woman, Brooklyn Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and the first woman to run for the Democratic party’s presidential nomination in 1972. LaDonna Harris: Indian 101 profiles the life of LaDonna Harris, a strong Comanche activist and civil rights leader from the 1960s on, who taught an Indian 101 course to inform legislators about Native American history and culture.
