Commencement Weekend at Emory University is such a busy time, with so many events going on, that it can get overwhelming for graduates and visitors alike. At the Emory Libraries, we recommend escaping to the Woodruff Library to refresh, regroup, and relax a bit before rejoining the crowds and the festivities. Here are the top five reasons why you should come in and see us.
1. It’s nice and quiet, so you can escape the crowds between events.
2. Visit our two thought-provoking exhibitions on Level 3. “Building Emory’s African American Collections: Highlights from the Curatorial Career of Randall K. Burkett” is a display of selected rare books, manuscripts, photographs, and ephemera from the collections built by the 
esteemed and recently retired Rose Library curator. “Framing Shadows: Portraits of Nannies from the Robert Langmuir African American Photograph Collection” examines through formal portraits the untold stories of the often-anonymous African Americans who cared for the children of white families.
3. Cool A/C, free wi-fi, and clean bathrooms with no waiting in line!
4. Relax in the comfy seating on the main floor or first floor and recharge your phone.
5. Take a trip up to Level 10 and enjoy the beautiful birds-eye view and the downtown Atlanta skyline from the Rose Library’s two balconies, on the Atlanta-facing side and the campus-facing side. Rose is open on Monday, May 13, from 9-5.
Woodruff Library hours that weekend:
Sat.–Sun. May 11–12: 11 a.m.–6 p.m. (Rose Library is closed on the weekend.)
Mon. May 13: 5:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
(Unfortunately, Peets Coffee & Tea is closed due to summer hours.)
