Alumni and the Library

Congratulations on graduation! We want to provide a few reminders to you regarding library services as an Emory graduate!

Whether you are staying in Atlanta or moving elsewhere, you will still have access to Subject Librarians for assistance via phone/Zoom, email, or chat. Once you join the Emory Alumni Association (EAA), you will have access to several popular databases, including Project Muse (journals), CINAHL, Adam Matthew’s primary sources, Academic Search Premier, and Business Source Complete.

Remember that if you signed up for access to the New York Times through Emory, you will continue to have access through the web as well as through the NYT app until September 30.

Some library services, such as off-campus, full-text access to all of the library’s licensed resources and interlibrary loan, are not available to alumni.  Fortunately, there are some alternative options.  As mentioned above, the EAA provides access to several databases. Your local public library can offer you interlibrary loan, as well as many online article databases, genealogy tools, and popular e-books, such as Overdrive. If you plan to stay in metro Atlanta or Georgia, you’ll have access to many research databases via GALILEO (Georgia Library Learning Online).  We also recommend you install a browser tool, Unpaywall, which links you legally to free scholarly journals from open-access journals and university repositories, including OpenEmory.

If you still have library materials in your possession, please follow the instructions here for returning said materials.

Keep your student EmoryCard as a souvenir and replace it with Alumni ID Card  to provide easy access to the Woodruff Library (once we re-open), including the Music & Media Library,  the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, & Rare Book Library, and the Health Sciences Center Library. For other Emory libraries, please contact them directly for alumni privileges.

Best of luck to you in these challenging times!
