International Love Data Week will take place this February 8-12. This year’s theme is Data: Delivering a Better Future and a schedule of virtual events from several universities and data organizations can be found at the Love Data Week 2021 website, hosted by the ICPSR.

Reflecting the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, highlights in the week’s schedule include:

For meaningful coverage on the relevance of data and computing in social justice work, we recommend two recent presentations:

Here at Emory, there are lots of data-related initiatives underway! The WHSC Data Science Initiative and the Emory Libraries have partnered to host an ongoing seminar series about Rigor and Reproducibility. Past sessions are recorded and shared, and we welcome suggestions for future topics in 2021.

The Department of Quantitative Theory & Methods will be launching two exciting opportunities for data-interested undergraduates this spring, including a collaborative hacking competition with industry and university partners themed around human trafficking, and a pilot with a local municipality and the QTM ambassador cohort. Stay tuned for more details!

For more events and activities this week, be sure to check out social media posts from around the globe using the hashtag #LoveData21.
