Bound with History: Encounters with the Rose Library’s Collections Series Three

If you attended and enjoyed our inaugural year’s (2018) event on our artists’ books collection, we have good news for you! On Tuesday, April 13, we are hosting our fifth event, “History of Pop-up Books” from 4-5 p.m. (virtual event). The Zoom link will be emailed to you after you complete the registration.

Two pop-up book artists, Shawn Sheehy and Kevin Steele, will talk about the history of pop-up books. They will also discuss their creative work. As this is a virtual event, a short slide show of relevant items from the Rose Library’s collection will be shown. After the talks, Shawn Sheehy will provide a fun and brief instruction session in which the audience can learn how to make a simple pop-up. (We will email you the instructions and the list of materials before the virtual event.)

If you would like to participate in Shawn’s mini pop-up workshop, you may want to prepare a few things in advance. Please print the included PDF on thick (80 pound paper), and have the following tools ready:

  • Xacto knife or box cutter
  • ruler or straight edge
  • self-healing mat or thick cardboard to protect the work surface

This event is free and open to both Emory and non-Emory guests. Interested in attending this event? Please register online, and you will receive a registration confirmation with a Zoom link.

Please note: This event will be recorded.
