Rose Library hosts second annual drag show for LGBTQ History Month

In honor of LGBTQ History Month in October, the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library will present its second annual Rose Library Drag Show on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at 7 p.m., in the Woodruff Library’s Jones Room on the Emory University campus. The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is needed.

The upcoming drag show will be hosted by Lorelei, with appearances by Reba Douglas from New Orleans, Lori Divine, Kellie Divine, Tatianna DeJour, Eileen Slightly, and Diego Wolf.

The show celebrates the Rose Library’s LGBTQ collections, which document LGBTQ life in Atlanta and across the South. The collections consist of the papers of activists, playwrights, and organizations, including “The American Music Show,” an Atlanta public access television show where RuPaul got his start.

Come early at 5:30 pm to the Rose Library on the 10th floor for a special tour of the exhibit “Forbidden Loves and Secret Lusts: Selections from the Golden Age of Queer Pulp Fiction” with curator Carrie Hintz, or visit the exhibit weekdays during regulary Rose Library hours before the end of its run on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Visit the Rose Library’s LGBTQ collections webpage for more information.
