I presented preliminary results from my second dissertation aim at the 67th annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) in New Orleans, Louisiana. There, I competed for the ASTMH Young Investigator Award and won First-tier Mention! The award supported travel and attendance for the meeting as well as brought attention to my poster abstract. The meeting was an exciting opportunity to meet with researchers to discuss the next phase of my scientific training, including colleagues and alumni of my doctoral program. Lodging was supported by a Laney Graduate Student Council Travel Grant.
