The Concert Choir is considered to be one of the finest collegiate choirs in the country. It has been selected to sing at both the Southern and National conventions of the American Choral Directors Association. It has given performances throughout the world, including Avery Fisher Hall in New York City, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the Berlinerdom in Berlin, Karmelitow Boysch Church in Krakow, and St. Nicholas Church in Prague.
- Select Chamber Choir
- 40 – 50 voices
- Open to all students in the university, undergraduates and graduate students
- Students from all disciplines are welcome–you need not be a music major
- An audition is required
- Interested members should have a good choral background, i.e. High School Choir, Honors Choirs, All-State Chorus
- Some ability to read music is essential
- Rehearses Monday and Wednesday 4:00-5:30pm and Friday 4:00-5:00pm in Emerson Concert Hall, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts
The choir sings a wide variety of sacred and secular repertoire, from the middleages to the present, from chant to folk song. A tiny sampling of recently performed works are:
