Is there any age limit for applicants?
- Ans: No. Although we request that applicants have an advanced degree, there is no upper or lower age limit.
Can questionnaires be made available?
- Ans: Yes, please contact converge [at] emory [dot] edu and we will work with project PIs to get you the questionnaires.
Can we miss the month-long seminar?
- Ans: No, this is a mandatory aspect of the CONVERGE program.
How broadly are GBV and VAC defined?
- Ans: Violence prevention is a field that draws from many disciplines, including policy, public health, medicine, sociology, and psychology. We define GBV and VAC broadly to include structural violence against women, children, and adolescents. For example, a study of the mental health effects of a gendered social stigma would qualify as GBV.
Is there a preferred study design or methodology?
- Ans: No. Our available secondary data is qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, cross-sectional, and longitudinal. We only ask that your design suits your research question.
What type of visa should applicants apply for?

Can fellows stay in the US beyond the duration of the one-month training?
- Ans: Fellows are permitted to stay in the US for up to two weeks following the one-month intensive training. All costs for personal travel must be paid for by the fellow.
