Instructure will release updates to our Canvas environment Saturday, December 8, 2018. Notable changes include:

  • Everyone can customize the order of course cards on their dashboards.
  • The Record Media feature in the Rich Content Editor will no longer require Flash in Chrome or Firefox. Users will see the new HTML5-based media recording interface. Other browsers, like Internet Explorer and Safari, will continue to offer Flash-based recording.

The notes contain more details about these and other changes, a link to a screencast explaining some of the changes contained in the release, a comments section, and role-specific user summaries. You can join in the discussion if you log in to the Canvas Community.

Instructure also announced that they may change the release schedule. By next summer, they aim to slow feature releases to once each month and speed code deployment to once every two weeks. Click here to read the full post.

A new release arrives every third Saturday. The notes are published 10 to 12 days before a release at https://community.canvaslms.com/community/answers/releases/release-notes-canvas.
