The Emory community has access to a wealth of business research databases. This series highlights many of these great resources, including content and the best applications for classes and career prep.
What You Will Find
Hoover’s Company Profiles cover 40,000 global public and non-public companies including a robust company overview, company history, financials, biographies of key employees, a list of competitors and more. The Hoovers company profiles are one of several business resources included in ProQuest’s Business Market Research collection.
To limit your search to Hoovers Company Profiles, select the Advanced Search tab, and enter your company name in the search box. Then click “company profiles” under document type.
Use for Class Projects
The company history includes a wealth of information in a few easy to browse pages. This includes data such as geographic exposure, revenue figures, recent acquisitions, high level marketing expenditure, brands within the company, and more. These can all be helpful when creating a SWOT analysis or considering how industry trends could impact the firm in the future, enabling you to make informed recommendations.
Use for Interview Prep
Researching your firm and competitors demonstrates you are knowledgeable and interested in the company. This can help inform your answers to questions during the interview, as well as develop thoughtful questions for your interviewer to learn more about the firm.
