When first enrolling in this Global Baroque course, I already had a soft spot for Roman Baroque art and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Now, after studying ancient Rome and the Baroque art produced by him and others, I love it even more. I therefore believe that I want to focus on the city of Rome for my final project and then if the artworks I focus on have acquired inspiration from other areas of the globe, I can discuss those as well. In order to do this, I believe using the story map digital resource will be extremely beneficial to viewers since I will be able to take them on a guided tour of the city, and it will be possible to see how everything connects to each other. I also believe that utilizing the 3D representation of Baroque Rome that Dr. McPhee has been working on will be helpful and can guide my thinking in exploring the city and the art it contains. In terms of artists, I would love to explore works by Bernini, Caravaggio, Annibale Carracci, and more if I am able to sufficiently cover them all. I believe that being able to show many different works of art from an array of Italian artists with the help of a digital resource like a story map, will sufficiently aid in my quest to deliver information to the general public. I also think it will be really fun to focus on many different mediums of art including paintings, sculptures, frescos, and more. However, this is all very tentative, especially given that such amazing topics are covered in each lecture!
