Thank you for your interest in joining the Emory University Grey Matters Team! We are currently looking for individuals to join our production team! If you have any questions, please reach out to us!

Our Divisions:

Authors are responsible for writing an original neuroscience-related article for the Grey Matters journal. Authors select a topic connected to the brain and develop it into an accessible piece intended for a broad undergraduate audience. Writing occurs over an approximately 8-week production cycle with structured deadlines and regular revisions in collaboration with editors.

PLEASE NOTE: Applying as an Author requires submitting an original article outline with scholarly sources. Topics should not closely replicate articles from previous Grey Matters editions. More information will be presented in the position-specific section of the application form!

Editors work closely with authors to review, revise, and strengthen article drafts. Responsibilities include improving clarity, organization, tone, and accessibility while maintaining scientific accuracy and the author’s voice. Editing takes place over the same approximately 8-week production cycle, with editors providing feedback and revisions on a weekly basis.

Artists create original visual pieces to accompany Grey Matters articles and journal issues. This may include cover art, article illustrations, or smaller supporting visuals that align with an author’s topic. Artwork is developed over an approximately 8-week production cycle in collaboration with the editorial and design team.
