Gabrielle M. Dudley, Head of Research Services

The Rose Library is thrilled to announce Gabrielle M. Dudley as the Library’s new Head of Research Services.

Gabrielle is a familiar face around Emory Libraries and needs no introduction to many of our faculty, students, and regular researchers; she has been serving as Instruction Archivist here in the Rose since 2014 and before that was an Emory Libraries Research Library Fellow.

As the new Head of Research Services, Gabrielle will be responsible for setting a vision and strategy for the Rose Library’s Research and Engagement, Instruction, Reference, and Outreach activities. She will be building on the work that she has done to establish the Rose’s instruction program and her work sharing the Rose Library’s collections with the public through her scholarly activities publishing on and curating a Rose Library exhibition on literary networks among Black women writers. This exhibition, entitled She Gathers Me is currently touring public libraries across the state of Georgia.

Gabrielle brings a strong history of professional engagement and community service to the Head of Research Services role. She is a founding member of the Atlanta Black Archives Alliance and holds memberships in the Society of American Archivists, the Rare Book and Manuscript Section (RBMS), and the Grolier Club, America’s premiere organization for rare book collectors and professionals. She is a member of the faculty of California Rare Book School, teaching courses on the history of the African American Book and Black Print Culture. She was recently been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the Civil Rights Cold case Review Board.

Gabrielle earned her M.A. in Public history and MLIS with a concentration in Archival Studies and Preservation Management from the University of South Carolina and holds a B.A. in History from the University of Montevallo.
