Welcome

In 2016-2017, Emory University will host a yearlong seminar that investigates the uses of affect for humanities and social science scholarship.

This Sawyer Seminar has been funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (including two Mellon funded 6th year dissertation completion fellows and a Mellon postdoctoral fellow).

The goal of this seminar is to bring together faculty and students through-out the academic year to discuss scholarship in affect theory/studies.  We will use these seminars as an opportunity to assess the intellectual foundations of the “affective turn” and encourage new work on affect, especially from junior scholars and from researchers turning to affect studies for the first time.
