Oxford College Library is pleased to host Emory Professor Emeritus and author Dr. Ron Schuchard to speak in conjunction with the library’s current exhibit: Seamus Heaney: the Music of What Happens. The exhibit is derived from the original 2014 exhibition at Emory University’s Robert W. Woodruff Library. Dr. Schuchard will speak October 21 at 3pm in the Fran Elizer Exhibit Space of the Oxford College Library. The exhibit features manuscripts, personal letters, photographs, and the original desk where Heaney wrote many of his celebrated poems.
Dr. Schuchard was a close friend of Seamus Heaney’s and was instrumental in bringing Heaney to Emory as the inaugural speaker for the Richard Ellmann Lectures in Modern Literature. Dr. Schuchard plans to speak about his own experiences as a writer, his work with Heaney on the original 2014 exhibit and the Heaney collection at Emory’s Rose Library (formerly MARBL).
Please join us for this Lyceum Event and a reception to follow.
