New on the Macs: Adobe Creative Cloud and More

The 2013-2014 academic year was our first year in the brand new library building. To celebrate the new space, we more than doubled the number of iMacs available from previous years, and loaded them with software specifically requested by Oxford faculty, staff, and students. For this academic year, we’ve added even more new features:

This year, we’ve added Apple’s iLife and iWorks packages. iLife includes the popular Mac App favorite GarageBand, along with iMovie for editing and producing your own personally directed films. iWorks includes Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. Both of these packages can be found on all of the iMacs and MacBooks in the library. And of course, all of our computers still support the full range of software available last year, including the programs some will need for Oxford classes: Mathematica, R, MatLab, Zotero, Stata, and more.

Our most exciting new programs for this year are what you’ll find on the six iMacs along the rear wall of the library’s first floor. These six iMacs support the full sweep of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Here you’ll find the latest editions of Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, and much, much more.

Our Lynda.com kiosk also resides among these Design iMacs, beneath the Lynda.com sign. Lynda offers over 2,ooo video tutorials on how to use almost any software program you can imagine. Whether you’re looking for an introduction to Photoshop or iMovie, or want to learn advance level skills in InDesign, Lynda is a great resource for improving your skills and boosting your resume.

If you would like to request additional software on the Oxford Library iMacs and MacBooks, please let us know by contacting us, or stop by the front desk!
