- PORT 412: Topics in Lusophone Culture
- Course Description: This one-credit course is being taught in conjunction with HIST 585: Nations and Identities: Africa, Americas, and Europe, but may be taken independently. Both courses explore the relationships between the countries of Lusophone Africa, Portugal, and Brazil from World War II to the present through film, music, and written texts of various genres. All the materials for PORT 412 (approx. 15-30 pages per week) are in Portuguese and will be studied with particular attention to the use of language in creating communities and identities.
