Who Needs a Flu Vaccine?
CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older as the first and most important step in protecting against seasonal flu viruses. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against flu. Consult with your physician before you receive your flu shot.
Who is at high risk to acquire FLU?
- Pregnant women
- Children younger than 5 years old, but especially children younger than 2 years old
- People 65 years of age and older
- People of any age who have certain medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease
