The BARS is now available for lipopolysaccharide (LPS): http://ehso.emory.edu/research-safety/bars/lps.html. A Biological Agent Reference Sheet (BARS) is a document that reviews the infectious nature of a pathogen and offers recommendations for work involving the agent in a laboratory setting. The document reviews containment issues, facility needs, emergency response, training, vaccine recommendations and availability, and follow up needs in the event of an exposure for a particular agent.
The updated version of the EHS-405, Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) has been posted to the website. The CHP is a reference for the safe handling of hazardous chemicals in the laboratory. The CHP applies to all engaged in laboratory use of hazardous chemicals.
In this update, the language was updated for standard operating procedures for use of hazardous chemicals, including emergency response and accident reporting information.
