Want to Participate?
We would love to have your child participate in our studies!
If you would like to sign your child up for a study, you can register on the Emory Child Study Center website. After registering, please email our lab so we can get you involved faster.
How Does it Work?
1. Register and make an appointment
After registering your child or children in the Child Study Center database, we will reach out to you via email about potential studies, in which your child can participate. Usually, we test children between certain age ranges depending on the study. If your child fits into the age range, we will reach out to you.
If you are interested in participating, that’s great! We will then start scheduling an appointment. Some of our studies are online and some are in person. If your child is participating in an online study, we will send you a consent form via email. If your child is coming into the lab, you will be asked to fill out the consent form at the lab. We will send you a reminder the day before your appointment.
2. Come into the lab or meet with us online
On the day of your appointment, you and your child will come to the Child Study Center or meet with one of our researchers online. We will then conduct the study. If you are participating in an in-person study, you will receive a parking validation, so you do not have to pay for campus parking. You are, of course, welcome to wait in the lab while your child is participating.
3. Participate
Our studies are around 30 minutes long and usually consist of fun games for your child to play. Using these games, we can test different aspects of child development. After the study is completed, your child will receive a toy, and you will receive a “thank you” in the form of a gift card.
4. That’s it!
We appreciate you and your child being a part of this lab!
You are not required to participate in every study. Depending on your schedule, you can pick and choose studies. You will remain a part of the Child Study Center database unless you indicate that you would like to be removed.
Our participants love coming into the lab to play games with us, and we love to meet new families as well as learn more about child development! If this is something that you or your child would be interested in, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions you may have.
