Many marble cineraria bear inscriptions indicating their servitude to and liberation from an imperial family.
An overview of marmorarii attested to in funerary inscriptions, and in particular on cinerary monuments or columbaria tomb inscriptions, it becomes clear that connections to the imperial household, regardless of status as slave or freedman, remained important in the production of marble cinerary urns.
