Ziwei’s paper on grain boundaries accepted for publication
Congratulations to PhD student Ziwei Guo (郭子威) whose article “Simulations of grain boundaries between ordered hard sphere monolayer domains: orientation-dependent stiffness and its correlation with grain coarsening dynamics” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Chemical Physics. These are the first calculations, to our knowledge, of the stiffness of grain boundaries in this simple model system. This computational study was inspired by our collaboration with the Weeks group in the physics department at Emory, which has been supported by the Emory University Research Committee. More interesting results are on the way!
