Reusing old equipment seems simple enough and is well practiced here at Emory! Surplus Property at the Briarcliff Campus is celebrating its “End of the Year Sale” through August and everything is “buy one, get one half off!”

There are hidden treasures to be found, fun paint projects with the kids and creative interpretations of re-purposing that are yours for the having. Surplus Property is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30-11:30 and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.; it’s located at Building A and uses Parking Lot J.

In Atlanta, Habitat for Humanity offers The ReStore for selling gently-used furniture. It is located at 519 Memorial Drive SE across from Oakland Cemetery in the Grant Park neighborhood, with street parking on Loomis Avenue. There’s also the Re-Inspiration Store that features art from all manner of recycled items. The art work ranges from folksy to fun and whimsical! They are located in Decatur at 2928 East Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Kudzu Antiques building (same street as DeKalb Farmers Market!).

Pretty cool! Anything is fair game to be something else – we reinvent ourselves, so why not do the same with our stuff!
