Fall is in the air and so are the autumn leaves! Whether you bag them for county collection or “bank” them for use in your own yard, know that either way the leaves get back to the soil…as compost or mulch to feed yards and public spaces.
Personal electronics are recycled twice a year through Emory Recycles and the next event will be held the week of 11/11-15. Stay tuned for the Emory Recycles Announcement about dropoff location, day, date and time during that week. You can contact Campus Services Customer Service to schedule a pick up at 404-727-7463 or cscsc [at] emory [dot] edu. More information on electronic waste can be found on the EHSO website at http://www.ehso.emory.edu/content-forms/EWasteQuickFacts.pdf
DeKalb County has a calendar of “Recycle, Reduce, Reuse” events that help us continue to be sustainable, http://web.co.dekalb.ga.us/beautiful/events.html. October’s event is particularly exciting for it’s the greatly anticipated Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event! It might sound terrible but it presents a safe way to say goodbye to old, unwanted, even unknown household chemicals. The event is held Saturday, October 19 from 8am to 12 noon at the DeKalb County Central Transfer Station on 3270 Leroy Scott Drive in Decatur.
DeKalb County also has 2 Permanent Electronics Recycling Drop Off Sites –
- DeKalb County Seminole Road Landfill on 4203 Clevemont Road in Ellenwood, GA 30294
- DeKalb County Sanitation Division on 3643 Camp Circle in Decatur, GA 30032
Remember – National Recycling Week is November 11-17 this year and November 15 is America Recycles Day – and there will be lots of collections going on around campus during the week that will include Data Destruction with paper, CDs and DVDs as well as Electronic recycling!
