Imagine recording a quality HD video at the touch of a single button. Imagine no more! Academic Technology Services (ATS) is happy to present its latest reservable space to facilitate just such a straightforward, self-service recording experience: the One Button Studio.
The One Button Studio is a simplified video recording setup that can be used without any prior production experience. To record their video, users insert a USB drive, which automatically turns on the pre-set microphone, camera, and studio lights. A push of one button is all that’s needed to begin recording.
The key questions:
- Where is this One Button Studio? – Woodruff Library, Level 1, Rm 101
- How do I reserve it? – Book through the Student Digital Life Resource Scheduler linked on our Reservable Spaces webpage.
- Available times? – 10 am to 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday (extended evening and weekend hours will be available later in January)
- How do I get access? – At the Student Tech Support Desk on Level 1
The space incorporates a gray background for filming, but green and blue screen options are also available for swapping backgrounds in post-production. Users can reserve the space for a maximum of three hours. The space is small, with a maximum capacity of only two people.
Some of the benefits include podcasting, presentation practice. interview or lecture recording, and creating a video for a musical or acting auditions. In the One Button Studio, a user doesn’t need technical expertise or special training to push the button and record.
For tips for filming in the space, go to the One Button Studio webpage. To learn more about video production, Emory faculty, staff, and students can access Lynda.com. Lynda is an open online course resource with more than 4000 classes, including a wide array of short courses on video production (before/during/after) that includes writing, recording, editing and presenting – start to finish.
In addition to the One Button Studio, ATS also offers the Student Production Studio on Level 1 of Woodruff Library. It provides a larger space with more specialized, customizable, high-end equipment, able to accommodate video and audio recordings for a number of individuals.
The MediaLab on the 4th floor of Woodruff Library is a post-production space to take your recording efforts to prepare for release. Users have access to a variety of specialized software (like Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro X, Pluraleyes and more), and during staffed hours there are student technology specialists who will help users finish their production.
