May LEAF Corner

The Library Employee Advocacy Forum (LEAF) is facilitating a monthly online news feature to keep library staff informed about advocacy-related information at Emory.

April Virtual LEAF Coffee Hour

Thanks to those who participated in our second Virtual LEAF Coffee Hour on April 28! We had had 31 unique participants join us for an hour-and-a-half to discuss pandemic projects, welcome new library staff, and prescribe book recommendations. We heard from colleagues such as Katie Sparks, who showed us her amazing worm farm, and Lawrence Hamblin, who demonstrated how he’s mastered completing the Rubix cube in under two minutes! Please stay tuned to learn the date of the next Virtual LEAF Coffee Hour.

LEAF Elections have concluded

Thanks to those who participated in LEAF elections. LEAF representatives, old and new, will all meet on May 7 for introductions and to transition roles. New LEAF representatives, as well as new LEAF leadership, will be announced soon!

Farewell 2019 – 2020 LEAF Representatives

As new representatives are rolling in, some of the old representatives are moving on. Thank you to all of the representatives who have worked on various projects this year to make sure library voices and concerns were heard. Below are a few projects that the 2019 – 2020 LEAF representatives have accomplished this year:

  • 1st Floor Breakroom coffee machine organizing and management
  • July Ice Cream Social
  • Monthly coffee hours (with better coffee)
  • Holiday luncheon
  • Breakroom remodel and improvements
  • Advocating for a ticketing system for facilities, which was adopted
  • Advocating for additional cleaning for office areas and fridges

LEAF’s plans for next year

Despite the limitations that have been placed on budgets due to the development of COVID-19, LEAF plans to continue to host coffee hours next year. While we may not be able to provide food and drinks, that does not mean that you are not welcome to bring your own food and beverage to munch on.

We want to hear from you

Help LEAF improve by giving us your feedback or suggestions via the LEAF online feedback form: http://bit.ly/LEAF-form.
