This photo pictures a few of my classmates as we all walk down one of the many heavily-ornamented halls of the Château de Fontainebleau, one of the most important historic royal palaces in France’s history. Our visit gave us a window into the ways that the wealthiest and most important members of the French populace were living compared to the commoners, and gave me an appreciation for the often thankless work scientists do by comparison.
