The Golden Rule; an Interfaith Exercise

by Noël Lemen

We often think of the Golden Rule as being a Christian concept. However, one thing I’ve learned from studying many faiths is that in the end, they are more alike than they are different. Nearly all faiths have two key concepts: love God, and do good. Of course, how “God” is defined varies, as do the specifics of doing good. Still, most major faiths have their own version of the Golden Rule, from which most of us can learn.

This online lesson and exercise is designed to be used in conjunction with an in-person retreat for religious leaders (both lay and ordained) from a variety of faiths to learn from one another and deepen their own and their peers’ faith.
