Kimberly R. Powell, Research Impact Informationist, Emory University Libraries
From the Desk of the Director:
I am pleased to announce that Kimberly R. Powell was selected as a participant in the 2023-2024 cohort of the Medical Library Association’s Rising Star program. Kim is the Research Impact Informationist for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library.
The MLA Rising Star program gives members the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge, and personal characteristics needed to become a leader in MLA. The leadership development program matches each Rising Star with a mentor in a yearlong curriculum that includes:
- Experiences and training to develop self-awareness of skills and dispositions as a leader.
- Opportunities to discuss, reflect upon, and apply concepts from classic leadership texts.
- Opportunities to gain a comprehensive, intimate view of all aspects of MLA, with a focus on strategic planning.
We are proud that Kim was chosen as one of four Rising Stars in the next cohort. Program Director Gail Kouame wrote, “Kim is awesome, and I look forward to working with her.”
