Two New Library Workshops to Build your Advanced Searching Skills

This fall, we’re offering two new one-hour workshops to our class lineup: Advanced PubMed Searching, and Searching Embase!

Advanced PubMed Searching will cover the building blocks of advanced searching, from using MeSH terms and keywords to Boolean operators and truncation. Users will learn how to navigate the MeSH database and build an effective, comprehensive search strategy to capture relevant articles. Attendees for this workshop should already be familiar with the PubMed interface and searching for articles.

When you want a comprehensive look at the literature on a topic, you might want to look in more than one database—PubMed is wonderful, but there are lots of articles that can be found in other databases too! The Searching Embase workshop is all about Embase, a biomedical sciences and pharmacological database with international coverage. Attendees will learn about Embase’s interface and features, how to build a comprehensive search strategy, and how to translate a search from PubMed to find more literature. No prior knowledge of Embase is necessary!

We hope to see you at one of our workshops!
