The WHSC Library Historical Collections is excited to announce an upcoming art exhibit installation at our library: Contested Ground, in partnership with the Say Study. Please join us for a talk with the artist and a viewing of the exhibit!
Funded by the Women of Emory Impact Circle grant, the Say Study documents the experience of Black women in healthcare settings. It incorporates Black Feminist and Womanist theory, methodology, and praxis to insert the voices of Black women into health research, especially given the high disparities. The work is being carried out by SON doctoral candidate, Octavia Vogel. Created by artist Stephanie Brown, the installation, Contested Ground, will create an immersive experience for viewers based on these oral histories from Black women.
When: March 28, 2025, at 6-9PM
Where: Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library, Plaza Level, and virtually via Zoom
Registration: Link to registration. Zoom link will be sent to registrants. Registration closes March 21.
We hope to see you in our library for the artist talk and viewing, but if you can’t make it, the exhibit will be up in our library until early fall of 2025.
