New discoverE features forthcoming, Nov 28-30

 

The Emory libraries will update discoverE over the Thanksgiving break. The update will start at 5 p.m. Friday, November 28 and finish Sunday, November 30.  Enhancements and improvements to discoverE include: discoverE

Permalinks: The Permalink option under an item’s Action menu provides a permanent URL for an item.

  • Citation: The Citation link under an item’s Action menu lets users copy a citation for an item in APA, MLA or Chicago style. discoverEbrowse
  • Virtual browse: A new tab in the record view lets users browse items with subject-classified call numbers around the parent item.
  • Improved search: Changes to indexing have improved known-item search, search for terms containing punctuation, diacritics and special characters, and relevance ranking.
  • Sort Date-newest, Date-oldest: New sort options let users sort results by newest or oldest first.
  • QR Code: A QR Code link under an item’s Action menu lets users easily capture an item’s title, location and call number on your mobile device.
  • Send to Phone: A Send to Phone link under an item’s Action menu lets users easily text an item’s title, location and call number to their mobile device.
  • Separate Rare Book Records: MARBL rare book records no longer combine with other records, making it easier to find notes associated with special copies.
  • Newly Acquired: A Newly Acquired facet under Refine Search Results, Show Only lets users limit their results to items acquired by the library within the last 60 days.
  • Full View: A Full View link under the item Links menu lets users access complete bibliographic information from the source metadata. (There’s also a Staff View to display the full MARC data in MarcEdit format.)

While discoverE will remain functional during most of the process, some down time will occur between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday, November 28. Users may also experience occasional inconsistencies in the web interface and in search results as the library introduces new features between November 28 and November 30.
