ECDS announces the launch of the companion website for Harmonic Development and Contrapuntal Techniques for the Jazz Pianist (Taylor & Francis, 2024) by Professor Gary Motley, Director of Jazz Studies in the Department of Music. Motley’s text explores the use of counterpoint in jazz improvisation. The companion site, built by digital publication specialist Dr. Bailey Betik, contains audio and video examples of the book’s contents, as well as additional written assignments.
The aim in crafting the companion site is to present musical theory and techniques in a pedagogically convincing way to make the study of jazz piano attractive and accessible to various demographics of learners.
